END

Re presentatives of London

Committee of Union Insurance Company

of Canton have reported that Company

has been considering possibility

In

of emergency transfer of Headquarters

from Hong Kong in contingency of

enemy aggression against Colony, but

have been advised that this could not

be done without legislation.

contingency mentioned they would

contemplate temporary transfer only

to other British territory at such

time and for such period as Governor

Hong Kong approved.

mont

I should be grateful if this

question may be considered. If the

only difficulty is that Company's

memorandum would require alteration as

to registered office, it is suggested

that legislation might take form of

addition to Section 7 of Companies

Ordinance to enable alterations with

respect to other matters than those

covered by subsections (1) to (7)

to be made in some expeditious

manner e.g. by special resolution

subject to confirmation by Governor.

Section 4(1)(b) would also require

amendment to provide for registered

Office to be situated outside limits

mentioned.
