There are two Mr. Frosts in Hong Kong Government Service. Both are sanitary inspectors, one with thirteen and the other with eleven years service, and they are drawing salaries of £430 and £385 per annum respectively. It is impossible to say which of them is the husband of the lady who wrote No. 29.
The evacuation scheme was suspended on instructions from the Secretary of State on the 5th November, and presumably this lady and her family were not in the event evacuated.
She claimed exemption from the scheme on the grounds of (1) financial hardship since it would involve the loss of the separate salary which she was drawing from Messrs. Butterfield and Swire; (2) her daughter would no longer be able to receive private tuition made necessary by the fact that she had an accident two years ago which has prevented her from attending ordinary school; and

(3) that she was qualified as an air raid warden. The last argument seems to carry some weight. supposition above is correct, however, it will not be necessary to go into this.
