Extension of Aerodrome.
28
I have the honour to refer to your letter
6/2820/25C dated 2nd inst., enclosing a draft statement of expenditure in connection with the above service together with a plan illustrating the work carried out.
It would appear from the statement that the cost
of construction of the full width of road between points
Y and Z on the plan has been included therein, whereas the
original road, in existence at the commencement of the extension scheme, was approximately 40 feet wide. In these
circumstances, it does not appear equitable for the cost of construction of the full width of new road to be included
and I have to request that the matter be reconsidered with a view to effecting some adjustment on the total figure
payable by Air Ministry.
Apart from an amendment on the lines suggested above, the statement appears to be in order and I am prepared to recommend settlement on this basis.
I have to request that the matter be given early
consideration, as Air Ministry is desirous of clearing up
the matter at the earliest possible date.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
(sd) A. Campbell.
Principal Works Officer.
