Mydear Gater,
Thank you for your letter of the 6th February about
the suggestion that Sir David Owen should be selected as an
expert to advise the Governor of Hong Kong and the Secretary
of State on the future administration of the Port of Hong
Kong.
I happened to meet Sir David a few weeks ago in the
street, and we stopped for a chat. He looked very fit and
told me that he was most anxious to do something to be helpful in these times, and that he felt physically capable
of doing anything and going anywhere. He certainly gave me the impression of being full of energy, and he said that he
had quite recovered from the ill-health from which he had
suffered during his last months with the Port of London
Authority
As to Sir David's technical qualifications for the
job, I cannot imagine there can be much doubt about a men
