'EW firms in Hong Kong can celebrate their Centenary concurrently with that of the Colony. Such, however, is the unique distinction enjoyed by A. S. Watson & Co., Limited. Like that of the Colony, with which its growth and development have been contemporaneous, the Company was modest in its beginning, "The Hong Kong Dispen- sary" being established in a matshed at Possession Point, by a Naval Surgeon, Dr. F. H. Young, within a few months of the occupation of the island, solely as a Dispensary for the Services.
