letter of the 5th June 1940 (54023/40) I am directed by the Lords Commission- ers of His Majesty's Treasury to
request you to inform the Secretary of State for the Colonies that They
approve his proposal to reply to the Governor of Hong Kong by telegram that His Majesty's Government will grate- fully accept the contribution of a further sum of £100,000 from the public funds of Hong Kong towards the prosecution of the war, and that an expression of their thanks should be conveyed to the Members of Council when the vote is approved.
A copy of this letter is being sent to the Admiralty, War Office, and the Air Ministry.
