Supplementary Memorandum in connexion with paragraphs
4 and 5 of the temporary Agreement regarding navigation of the Pearl River by certain British vessels and visits to Hongkong
by certain Japanese vessels, pending restoration of the Pearl
River to normal navigation, initialled by Fr. Blunt and Yr.
Okazaki on July 4th, 1939.
1.
At the end of each month, the following month's
schedules of Japanese Government chartered vessels arriving
at and sailing from Hongkong, and British vessels arriving at
and sailing from Canton, will be exchanged for agreement between
the respective Consuls-eneral concerned, and previous agreement
will be given as soon as possible.
At least 48 hours advance notice by telephone will be
given previous to each sailing by the respective Consul-General
to the other to confirm that there is no change in the monthly
schedule.

In case there is any change of schedule, owing to the
temporary closure of the Pearl River from military necessity or
owing to other reasons, the respective Consul-General will give
written notice to the other 48 hours in advance of the time of
arrival at and sailing from Hongkong or Canton, as the case may
be, and reply will be given as soon as possible.
3.
Except as modified in paragraphs 1 and 2 of this
Supplementary Memorandum, the provisions of paragraphs 4 and
5 of the temporary agreement regarding navigation of the Pearl
River by certain British vessels and visits to Hongkong by
certain Japanese vessels, pending restoration of the Pearl River
to normal navigation, initialled by Mr. Blunt and Mr. Okazaki
on July 4th, 1939, shall remain in force.
