Article No. 16. The head of the Pilots Association shall be

nominated by the Army and Navy.

Article No. 17. When in the pursuance of his duties, the

pilot meets with a maritime disaster, he shall

without delay transmit an account of the occurrence to the Army and Navy.

Article No. 18. In the event that a pilot discovers the

following circumstances within the pilotage zone of the Pearl River, he shall immediately communicate the information to the Army and Navy:-

Any change in the navigational course or navigational marks.

Discovery of the existence of obstructions.

Discovery of any other danger to navigation.

Article No. 19. Official reprimands and punishments relating

to the Pilots Regulations shall be enforced in accordance with the Regulations of the Army and Navy.

SUPPLEMENTARY PROVISIONS.

These regulations are to be used while the opening of the Pearl River is under consideration and preparation for a gradual revision is to be made as regards these regulations and the Pilots Association with a view to transference to the control of the Chinese authorities in the near future.

These regulations were enacted on July 27th, 1939, and enforced on February 1st, 1940.
