My launch then went astern and anchored about 5,000
feet from the shore.
The 2 aeroplanes circled over Sha U Chung and dropped bombs around the Customs House. One bomb scored a direct hit on the Customs House and demolished the roof. I heard 3 bursts of machine gun fire.
One of the 2 planes flew to near where my launch was
anchored.
This must have been at least 3,000 feet from the shore
All the sea up to high tide mark is British Waters.
I did not see any bombs drop in the sea.
This second air raid lasted about 15 minutes. The
2 planes then left in the direction of Ping Shan, Chinese territory.
Later that day, nine injured persons were brought
onto my launch to be taken to Tai Po on our return journey. One of these died on the way.
They were all taken over by the Police at Tai Po and
sent to hospital.
