At about 12.00 hours on 28.12.39 I left

Aberdeen Harbour on board the above junk to go fishing in
Chinese Waters together with a crew of 11.
At about 05.00 hours on 9th January, 1940, my junk

was at anchor about 5 miles off the shore at KIT SHEK in

HÓI FUNG District together with 5 other junks, when a
Japanese trawler painted grey approached my junk from the
West and came alongside. Seven Japanese sailors dressed
in khaki uniform who were all armed with rifles then
boarded my junk and began to search our junk. After searching the junk the Japanese made us lower our dinghy and ordered me and my crew into the dinghy and told us to row ashore. The Japanese then poured kerosene oil over my junk and set fire to it. My junk together with fishing gear and clothing all of which became a total loss is valued at $2,500.00 Hong Kong currency.
At about 12.00 hours on 10th January, 1940, we

Kong at 08.00 hours on 12th January, 1940.
