At about 08.00 hours the next morning 22.1.40.

I saw a launch with two junks in tow passing CHEK WAN about
200 yards from where we were anchored. The Japanese sailors
then shouted out something in Japanese and made gestures
with their hands for the launch to come alongside. The launch
did not stop but kept on steaming. Two of the Japanese
sailors then fired 3 shots at the launch.
The launch then
made towards the motor boat and stopped. A Chinese male then
boarded the motor boat from one of the junks and spoke to the
Japanese sailors in Japanese. This Chinese male then told the
masters of the four junks which had been captured by the crew
of the Japanese motor boat to go alongside, the junks and
told us to assist in loading our cargoes aboard the two junks,
which we did. After our cargo was aboard the two junks we
were released by the Japanese. I then set sail towards Hong
Kong, but was stopped by the Japanese who told us to sail back
to Chinese Territory, we then set sail for CHEK WAN where I
landed. I walked to HAU HOI Village and went by passenger
boat to LAU FAU SHAN and then walked to PING SHAN where I
caught a bus and came into Kowloon and reported the occurrence
at the Water Police Station at about 16.00 hours same day.
