At about 18.00 hours on the 18.1.40. I left SHA

bound for Hong Kong together with two of a crew and a cargo
of 12 piculs of turnips valued $18.00, 13 piculs of
vegetables (Siu Choi) valued $33.50 and 200 catties of rice
valued $16.00.
I dropped anchor at KU SO (C.T.) at about 20.00
hours on the 19.1.40. and remained there until 09.00 hours
on the 21.1.40. when we again set sail for Hong Kong. I
remained at KU SO owing to rough weather.
They
At about 23.00 hours on the 21.1.40 I was sailing
about mile from the shore at YUNG LONG WAN when a Japanese
motor boat name and number unknown approached my junk from
the stern and the crew of the motor boat fired 6 or 7 shots.
I lowered sail and stopped. The Japanese motor boat (with
a sampan in tow) came alongside my boat and two Japanese
sailors boarded my boat and began to carry out a search.
removed 200 catties of rice from my boat into the motor boat.
The two Japanese sailors then boarded their motor boat and
made fast my boat and took us in tow towards LIN TIN where
the Japanese fired a number of shots and stopped two
sampans off the east side of LIN TIN Island. The motor boat
then went alongside these two sampans and also took them in
tow and made for CHEK WAN (C.T.) where we all dropped anchor
at about 04.00 hours.
