CHENG CHAU KIT, 32 years, Master of Fishing Junk No.1490
residing on board, c/o "ING FAT Fish Dealers, Shaukiwan,
Native of Shaukiwan, Hong Kong, states:-
I am master of Fishing Junk No.1490. On board I
have a crew of five.
On the 17th October, 1939, at 05.00 hours my junk
MENO CHAU and another two junks owned by my two brothers
YAU and CHIENG CHAU KWAI (Nos. unknown) left Shaukiwan
bound for HAK NGAAM KOK to fish.
At about 12.00 hours on the 18th October, 1939, when
we were fishing near HAK NGAAM KOK a Japanese trawler came
from the south-east. I saw the trawler set fire to two
other junks owned by my two brothers who were fishing near-

time my junk was set on fire and burnt till it senk.
At about 16.00 hours same day a fishing junk, number unknown, picked me and my crew up and took us to NAN 0. At about 06.00 hours on the 19th October, 1939, the fishing
junk sailed for Shaužiwan arriving at 11.00 hours same day. The fishing junk also picked up the crew of the other two junks burnt by the Japanese and conveyed them back to Shaukiwan with my crew. I came and reported at Fater Police
Station at 17.30 hours with my two brothers.
