I have been a seaman on board the Steam Launch
KWONG HING for two years.
On 21.1.40 the KWONG HING was towing junk
No. T.1703H from PENG CHAU to Shaukiwan. About 15.00 hours
when the KWONG HING was steaming past FUNG BAY I saw a
Japanese trawler flying a Japanese Naval flag at its stern
steaming from the south. The Japanese on board waved
their hands indicating that the KWONG HING should stop.
We stopped and the trawler came alongside.

The position
there was approximately 400 years east of Conic Island.
Four Japanese, three dressed in Khaki and one in
blue uniform boarded the Kwong HING. The three in Kaki
were armed with two rifles with bayonets affixed and one
with a revolver. The one in blue was unarmed. I was
standing at the stern. One of the Japanese in Khaki pointed
with his fifle to tie up the rope at the stern. I refused
and he struck me with a baton on my shoulder. The Japanese
tied the ropes themselves and the trawler took the KWONG
HING and the junk in tow leading for SA MUN.
On each side of the bridge is a union jack.

stern of the KWONG HING.
