No.4 Launch
11th September, 1940.
Divisional Inspector, South,
Sir,
At 19.25 hours on 10th September I received a w.T. message from Inspector on Duty, Tsim Sha Tsui, to proceed to a position 7 miles East of WAGLAN to take over a burnt out junk which was then in tow of H.M.S."SCOUT".
I arrived at the position at 22.00 hours and took over the junk and towed her to STANLEY arriving at 03.00 hours on 11th September, 1940, and anchored for the remainder of the night.
I eventually towed her into Yaumati at 09.45 hours on 11th September, 1940, and handed her over to the Yard Boatswain. The 5 men who were on board were handed over to Lance Sergeant A.70 McCarthy, No.6 Launch to be taken to Tsim Sha Tsui.
2 rifles found on board also handed over to Criminal
Investigation Department, Tsim Sha Tsui.
No ammunition all had exploded I was informed.
Junk was a fishing junk No.1721 H.. Master's name SHEK SHING, who informed me that a Japanese trawler had boarded his junk at 09.30 hours on the 10th September, 1940, whilst he was fishing off TAM KON TAU, LEMA ISLANDS and after putting all the crew consisting of 20 males, 4 females and 7 children into 5 small boats belonging to the junk, set fire to it.
The master seemed confident that all reached SHAUKIWAN. He and 4 others returned to the junk and were on board when H.M.S. "SCOUT" picked them up. The junk was practically a burnt out derelict when I took it over.
