I was the master of the above junk which left CHEUNG CHAU

(British Territory) on 17.9.40 at 09.00 hours bound for LAP SAP MEI Chinese Territory, (Long.113° 49' 20" E. Lat. 22° 8' N.). Altogethe

there were 13 persons on board my junk. Another fishing junk,

number unknown, left CHEUNG CHAU with my junk to fish.

At about 20.00 hours on 17.9.40 my junk was fishing about

two miles south of LAP SAP MEI, I saw a Japanese trawler painted

black xxxent out from LAP SAP MEI. When a short distance away the

trawler opened fire at my junk with machine guns,

wounded. The other junk sailed away. I lowered

I heard the trawler come alongside my junk and a noise like

several people coming on board. About an hour later all was quiet

on deck. I smelt petrol and when I opened the hatch cover I found

all the deck of my junk on fire. The three fokis and myself

scrambled on deck. I could see the trawler in the distance

sailing towards TAI O`(British Territory). We dumped a beam into

the water, then jumped in and held on to the beam.

When we were in the water I saw my junk burn right down to

the water. About 03.00 hours on 19.9.40 we drifted to an island

CHUNG CHAU SI, Chinese Territory, (Long.1130 43′ 45′′ E. Lat.22°10'1

I knew the S.S.Sai On would be sailing past CHING CHAU SI about 081

hours en route from Macau to Hong Kong. So at 06.00 hours we all

again went into the water and caught hold of the wooden beam. Be
