At about 10.00 hours on the 25.9.40. I left Shaukiwan

bound for the fishing grounds off Lema Islands with a crew of 33

all told.

At about 10.00 hours on the 28.9.40. I was on my return/

to Shaukiwan with my catch of fish of about 50 piculs when I was

about į a mile away from TẤM KON TAU, Lema Island (Long.114° 19' 10"

E. Lat. 22° 4' N.) a Japanese trawler painted grey, one funnel, 2

masts with figure "8" painted in white amidships came out from Lema

Island. They sounded one blast on the siren and we lowered sail.

The Japanese trawler then came alongside and 4 sailors dressed in

khaki uniform, 2 armed with rifles and 2 with batons boarded my junk.

One of the sailors made signs as though asking for my licence which

I produced. He looked at it and asked me to produce the arms and

the sailors then transferred them to the trawler. After this the

I then sailed for trawler left and sailed away towards the east.
