At about 18.00 hours on 19.9.40 we sailed from TAT 埠 潮
15 FAU, CHTU YERG District (not shown on chart) for Hong Kong with
a crew of 8 all told and one cargo owner. My cargo consisted of 30 piculs of garlic value $1100.00 Chinese currency, 30 piculs of ginger value $1100.00 Chinese currency. Total value $2200.00 Chinese currency.
At 06 hours on 22.9.40 while sailing 10 miles south of SAM MUN Customs (Longl14° 39' E. Lat. 22° 26' N.)I saw a motor boat painted grey with the figure "8" painted in white amidships, with a small funnel, 2 masts, flying the Japanese naval flag astern approached us from the stern. When the motor boet was about 50 yards away I head two shots, I immediately lowered sails and the motor boat came alongside, six Japanese sailors in khaki uniform armed with two rifles boarded my junk, our persons were searched and nothing taken. The sailors then
searched the junk after which they made our junk fast to the
motor boat, the four unarmed sailors then returned to the motor
boat, leaving the two armed with rifles on board our junk. Ve
were then towed towards SAM MUN and when about three miles south
of SAM MUN the motor boat stopped a fishing boat (No.3083H.W)
which we were ordered to board, the Japanese telling the crew
of the fishing boat to take us to Hong Kong.

met No.4 Police Launch which took us on board and brought us to
Hong Kong.
