upon the services of the Reference Board.
Gradually, since war was declared, thirty seven Europeans of the
required type who offered their services have been enrolled, mobilized
nd trained and in that manner relief has been afforded to the Civil
Community.
Routine.
The duties undertaken are
a) War Patrols in the outer waters of the Colony.
Patrol of Minefields.
b
Minesweeping.
d) Manning of two Minewatching stations on shore.
Examination Service (until 31st October when the demand for increased personnel for observation of Contact Minefields could not be met unless Examination Service personnel were used. The Commodore then took over the Examination Service supplying
R. N. R. personnel.)
In addition four officers have been appointed to Motor Torpedo
Boats two to commands. Several other members are undertaking duties

on shore in the Naval Control Service.
Expense of Operation. The Admiralty is bearing the Charter Fees, expense
of upkeep of the thirteen launches and wages of the civilian crews
requistioned with these launches which are all operated by the Force.
(The Force has not been handed over to the Admiralty for General Service.)
Government therefore bears pay and cost of uniform for volunteer personnel
and maintenance of H.M. S. "Cornflower".
