Sir,
In accordance with Colonial Regulation No.265.
I have the honour to request your covering approval of
additional expenditure of the sum of $34,247 under
Head 30, Public Works Extraordinary, Buildings, Sub-
head 5, Central Government Store, on page 124 of the
printed estimates for 1940-41.

In this connection I would invite reference to
my despatch No.715 of 13th November, 1939, in which it
was pointed out that the revised estimated cost of this
building was $392,125. Expenditure during the financial
years 1937, 1938 and 1939 amounted to $351,878, leaving a
sum of $40,247 required for completion. of that sum
$6,000 is provided in the estimates for 1940-41 and it is
necessary to supplement this by a re-vote of $34,247
which is the unexpended balance of funds provided in 1939.

The consent of the Finance Committee of the
Legislative Council to this additional expenditure of
$34,247 has already been obtained in Finance Message No.2
of 1940-41, estimates 1940-41, Item No.30.

I would add for your information that the
building has now been completed and that the Controller
