TANG CHU. dd. xd. Chen
I came to Hongkong as a refugee a little over a year ago. In
Canton I wove singlets in Lo Ki Cheung factory. I got my food
or $5 a month. When I came to Hongkong I became a fruit hawker.
I sold at the entrance to Chinese St. I knew Leung Ki as he was
frequently in Chinese St. I owe money to Chan Kam On a gambling
debt. He asked me for money so that he might lend to Leung Ki. I had no money so I could not pay. When Loung Ki spoke to me on
28th Sept.
he looked as if he wanted to strike me. He threatened
to drive me from Chinese St. I then stood up and began to walk
away. Leung Ki followed me asking me if I was going to pay my debt.
I asked him to wait a few days. He then struck me with his right
clenched fist. He then shouted to Chan Kam on to strike me also.
As both of them were going to attack me and they must win I turned
round to get something to defend myself. I saw chopper & picked it up. I held up the chopper in my right hand. Chan Kam On then
ran away. Leung Ki then attacked with his fists. I brandished
the chopper in a circle to defend myself. We fought along the
street till we got to Tak Hing Shop where he fell down. When he fell down I did not chop him. I walked on up the street and threw
away the chopper.

he said that to me I got up & then he struck me. I retreated backwards till I came to the chopper and picked it up. After I got the chopper I did not move. It is not true that after picking up the c hopper I walked back to where the other two were standing. In the Court below I meant to say that I walked to one side not
that I walked back to where the two men were. They were standing
in the middle of the read near the noodle stall. They were only a pace of two from the chopper. I held the chopper up at shoulde
