On 25th Sept. I met Leung Ki about 3 p.m. in Chinese 8t.
He asked me for a loan but I had no money. That evening I met
Leung Ki again & accused. I again asked accused for money but
he said he had none. I told him I wanted 20₫ to lend to Leung
Ki. We had no quarrel.
About 11 p.m. on 26th Sept. I saw accused gambling. I asked him
again for my money. He had a dollar or more in his hand but he
said tomorrow was moon cake festival & he wanted the money.
He said he would pay me in two days. We had no quarrel & I walked
away. On 28th Sept. I saw Leung Ki ab out 3 p.m. in Chinese St.
We arranged to meet that evening.
After 7 p.m. in Chinese St. I saw Leung Ki playing chess with
Leung Ho Chi. They were just where the two baskets are in first
photograph. Accused was sitting on a stool on the other side of
Chinese St. I went up to him followed by Leung Kl.
I asked accused if he had the money. He said he had none,
I told him he wouldn't pay me when he had the money.
Leung Ki then said to accused "Better pay him".
Accused got up & shouted "I'll pay when I have money. I can't
pay when I've no money".
He then cursed Leung Ki & said he was collecting bad debts for
people. Leung Ki replied "You kk want to impose on this young
boy but not repaying your debt".
Accused again said "I'll pay when I've money".
Leung Ki then said to accused "If you don't pay this money in
3 days you'll be driven out of Chinese St.".
As he said that he pushed accused on the right shoulder with his
open hand. Accused then turned to the coffee stall & picked up a
bread knife. It was a bread chopper.
He picked it up from top of box to left of ice chest as shown in
photograph 2. Accused came up to where Leung Ki was standing.
Leung Ki called out 'safe life' and ran away up Chinese St.
I ran into Des Voeux Rd. and saw no more. When Leung Ki ran I
saw accused chase him.
