I am directed by Mr. R.S. Hudson to refer to your letter of the 5th December 1939 (54017/39) and to state for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that in view of the decision to close the
post of His Majesty's Trade Commissioner at Hong Kong forthwith
it will not now be necessary to proceed with the
arrangements for the advance of funds by the Governor of the Colony to His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for the purpose of meeting the expenses of his post.
