Dear Bevir,

IMMEDIATE.

Military Branch,

Admiralty, S.W.1.

26th November, 1939.

I don't know whether the following matter

concerns you but, if not, perhaps you would be good

enough to pass it on to the right quarter.

For some time the Admiralty have refused to

allow passages to Hong Kong for the wives and families

of naval and civil personnel stationed in the Colony.

The wife of a sub-inspector in the Hong Kong Dockyard

Police has requested that reconsideration be given to

our refusal to allow her return passage, on the grounds

that she has good reason to believe that the Hong Kong

Government are now allowing the wives and families of

their staffs to return.

As the lady wishes to return to the Colony

early next month, I should be glad if you could let me

know very soon, whether or not her statement is correct.

Yours sincerely,

Sincerely, Pasons.

A. Bevir, Esq.

Colonial Office,

S.W.1.
