SIR WILLIAM REID DICK

THE CROWN AGENTS FOR THE COLONIES.

In reply to your letter of March 22, I am very
interested in the scheme to set up a bronze statue of H.M. King
George VI in State robes in Hong Kong and should like to
undertake the work.
The cost of the statue as specified will
be £10.000 (ten thousand pounds)
Sir Edwin Lutyens K.C.I.E.- P. R. A.
is willing to colloborate with me in making the necessary drawing
for the pedestal canopy and other necessary work and his fees are
included in the above inclusive sum.
The time specified is rather short considering, as perhaps
you know, that six months must be allowed for casting a statue of
this size in bronze but if circumstances are favourable I see
no reason why I should not complete the work in good time. You
will understand, however, that it is important that I should know
with as little delay as possible whether you wish me to undertake
the work, which should be started at once.
Arrangements for the
necessary sittings from His Majesty would have to be arranged
before he leaves for Canada.
MNL.
Yours faithfully,
(SGD) W.REID DICK
