With reference to your confidential despatch

of 16th September, 1938, approving proposals for

adjusting the salaries or Chinese Medical and Health

Officers appointed to the Medical Department after

service as first or second assistants to the clinical

units of the University of Hong Kong, I have the honour

to inform you that it is now proposed (that assistants

in the university department of pathology should if appointed to the Government service as Chinese Medical

Officers be afforded the same concession as regards

increments as has been granted to officers who have

been assistants in the clinical units The effect

of this proposal will merely be to extend the field of recruitment to assistants in pathology on the same tems as assistants in the clinical departments.
