of securing greater uniformity of remuneration for
posts the duties of which are of approximately equal
value. The slight improvement in the pay of the lower
grades as compared with similar grades in other branches
of the Government Service is justified by the more
onerous conditions of service in lighthouse stations.
7. If you approve of these revised scales it
is intended that they should be introduced with
effect from 1st January of this year and I shall be
glad, therefore, if I may receive your reply to these
proposals as early as possible.
