An Ordinance to amend the Promissory Oaths Ordinance,

1869.

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Promissory Oaths Short title. Amendment Ordinance, 1939.

2. Section 5 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, Amend- is amended—

(a) by the repeal of the words "oath of allegiance and the" in the first line;

(b) by the insertion of the word first" between the words his" and "acceptance" in the third line.

3. Section 6 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the insertion of the word "first" between the words "his" and " acceptance" in the third line.

4. Sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Promissory Oaths Amendment Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word "Governor " at the end thereof-- 1 of 1869,

5. Section 8 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word "Governor at the end thereof- or other person lawfully presiding ".
