Dear Willis,
With reference to previous official
correspondence on the subject of the extension of
the lease of the new territories in Hong Kong, you
may like to see the enclosed copy of a further letter
we have received from the Governor on this subject.
A copy of the Governor's letter has also been sent to Ronald (Foreign office).
May we expect fairly soon the report on
the proposal from the point of view of the commercial
importance to British trade of the retention of the
leased territories, for which we asked in our
official letter No. 53852/38 of the 4th of October?
