Chamber of Commerce published the telegram to the China
Association London has had regrettably unsettling offect on
the Chinese in Hong Kong. In the Legislative Council this
afternoon I am making a short statement emphasising clarity
and obvious sincerity of the Prime Minister's statement in
the House of Commons that the declaration does not change
the British Government's policy in China and pointing out
that the mistrust of His Majesty's Goverment can result in
nothing but harm to Great Britain and China.
