6. British authorities to co-operate with

Japanese authorities in facilitating sale of

silver.

Vice-Minister stated that blockade

measures would at once come to an end on sig-

nature of the agreement but represented that

agreement should be recorded separately.

Sir R. Craigie advocated that we should try

to reach agreement in view of struggle going on

in Japan between advocates of a rapprochement

respectively with the Soviet Union and the

democracies.

On 4th December Sir R. Craigie had a
