For information of H.E. the Governor of Hong Kong and H.E. the
British Ambassador resident in China.
WE, (Chuk) Chung-leung and (Yuen) Hon-Tsun, are the men who assassinated the accursed Chinese traitor Ching Sik-kang. It was because we were animated by patriotism and righteousness at the time that we did the act; nobody else was concerned in the matter.
We have just learned that the Government of your country is prepared to have the 4 innocent men, now detained in the British Concession at Tientsin, handed over to the enemy-puppet.
We are
astounded (on hearing such news).
We do not want others
innocent people to be involved.
-
We are prepared to surrender ourselves at your (Governor's) office. To prove our statement, it is requested that you will compare the hand writing of this letter with that of the several
characters"
(= Manager Ching, you are wanted) which
were written on a glass slide on that very day by (Chuk) Chung- leung personally in the cinematograph theatre and screened, now still in the custody of the British Municipal Authorities of Tientsin. We are now waiting to be dealt by law, but as the enemy-puppet is the common foe of the Chinese, before we surrender ourselves it is necessary to request your government to make a public announcement that we shall not be handed to the enemy for trial. On the day we hear such accouncement by your government through the medium of the press we shall surrender ourselves. We do not care whether we shall live or die. We are
We respectfully submitting this to you with our utmost sincerity. beg to remain waiting for your wise judgment.
Respectfully submitted by
Chuk Chung-leung &
Yuen Hon-tsun.
August 15th.
(P.S.) This is (Yuen) Hon-tsun's own hand writing.
