Captain R.J.F.A. Lawder, Adjutant, 1st Kumaon Rifles states: I produce signed copies of the following
documents:-
(i)
Orders for the Commandant of the Guard Chinese Soldiers Internment Camp dated 3/12/38, Signed by the Brigadier i/c Administration, China Command.
Orders for the Guard Comander, Internment Camp.
(iii) Orders for sentries.
(ii)
Roman Urdu copies of all these are kept in the camp. Note. Copies of these orders are attached to the
proceedings.

Adjutant 1st Kumaon Rifles.
No. 11199 L/Nk. Narain Singh, 1st Kumaon Rifles states:-
At the Chinese Prisoners Internment Camp at MA TAU
CHUNG on 2nd January. I was in command of the guard. At
2 p.m. I posted the three day sentries explaining to them their orders. I produce a copy in Roman Urdu of the orders.
(This is examined by the Court and found to be an accurate
translation of the orders for sentries produced by the
Adjutant 1st witness.)
The sentry on No.1 post by the gate was Rifleman Dhan
Singh D Company.
At five minutes to four I heard the sound of a shot,
turned out the guard and hurried down to find out what was
happening.
I saw a large crowd of Chinese Prisoners about ten
yards from No.1 sentry post.
I did not see a wounded man.
Subadar Puran Chand, I, and six riflemen went inside
the wire with three Sikh Police.
The Police told the Chinese crowd in Chinese to
disperse.
They refused and commenced to stone us.
