First Witness.
No. 11829 Rfn. Bhawan Singh states:-
I was sentry at No.3 Sentry Post at the Chinese
Soldiers internment Camp at LIA TAU CHUNG in the afternoon of January 9th, At about 5.50 I saw one of the Interned Chinese running towards the wire and he commenced to get through the barbed wire fence. I took very little notice of this as many of the Chinese soldiers were playing football near by and the ball kept on going into the wire whereupon they would enter the
that wire to retrieve it. I looked again and saw/the man was not trying to get a football but attempting to escape. He commenced to climb the high outside fence. I sounded the alarm and shouted to him. He was about 50 to 60% from me.
He took no notice so as he was near the top of the wire I fired at him and missed. He jumped over and commenced to run.
I fired two more shots at him but missed. I then had to
cease fire as it was dangerous to passers by. (Signed) Rfn. Bhawan Singh.
