His Majesty's Ambassador presents his
compliments to the Imperial Japanese Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and with reference to kemorandum
which he left with the Minister for Foreign Affairs
on the 2nd May, has the honour to inform the Minis-
try that a claim has been presented by messrs.
illiamson and Company, the owners of the ..
"agros", which was boarded by a Japanese laval
party on the 5th april and has been detained since
the 8th pril. Although it is not yet possible to
give details of the claim, His Majesty's ambassador
desires that the Ministry should be aware that in
respect of demurrage the Japanese Government are
incurring daily an additional liability of Hongkong
$1,000 so that their obligation in respect of the
detention of the ship amounts already on this score
alone to some Hongkong 45,000.
