The incident began with nine Japanese

bombing planes attacking Sham Chun from the south,

i.e. crossing British territory. Six bombs were

dropped on the Customs station. Two machines then

attacked the British railway station 200 yards inside

the frontier, dropping four bombs inside British

territory.
