To brother KONG FU.

I am very pleased in learning that you have

regained health after sickness. I wonder if you have

received my foregoing telegram and am worrying about it.

As Craigie's report is too long and owing to the

limited time, I have quoted only 10 or 20% of it. I shall

report the rest of it to you personally.

Craigie's visit to Shanghai is worthy of notice,

having a close bearing on whether or not Britain's policy

in the Far East will be changed, and also because of the

fact that Craigie submitted an unreasonable proposal for

frustrating the Berlin-Tokyo-Rome Alignment.

Ker is leaving here on the 8th. I will also

accompany him. Thus, I will be able to relate to you

personally the results of the talk.

I do not wish to make it known to others my

connections with you, both official and private. Personally

I think that very few people know that. Even if there is,

it is due to the indiscreetness of those several old

colleagues of mine who pass and forward the correspondence.

I thank you for your directions, and I shall be

more careful in future.

Yours, 300

(written in red pencil).....Seen.
