unofficially, about the dissatisfaction of
the women teachers in the Education Department
of Hong Kong with the new salary scheme which
is applicable to them; and in September last
we received through Miss P.U.Esdalle (who as
you may remember is a member of the A. C.
copies of three petitions which the graduate
mistresses have addressed to the Hong Kong
Government since 1932 in particular one
dated February, 1937.
Obviously we can take no official
action here on these representations unless
and until they are formally put before the
3. of S. through the normal channel, or
unless you yourself feel able to make
particular recommendations to the S. of S.
for an improvement in the terms of service
of women teachers in the Hong Kong Service.
Perhaps you would care to think
this over yourself and decide upon the best
course to adopt; but I thought you might
to know that we had received these
representations.
