In the course of your
confidential (2) despatch of the 3rd of
October, 1938, regarding the representa-
tions made to you by the European
Masters on the subject of the new salary
scales, you mentioned that it would be
necessary to make a similar revision in
the case of European Mistresses in the
event of your recommendation on behalf
of the Masters being accepted. We are
sending you by today's mail an official
despatch conveying approval of those
recommendations.
From time to time we have
heard in the Colonial Office, quite
unofficially,
