As to the point of the salary for senior
mistresses which has been fixed at £740, this was arrived at
on the basis, more or less, of the arithmetical proportion to the corresponding masters' salary and has the advantage that it keeps the salary of the senior mistress slightly lower than the minimum of the scale for the Head Mistress, Belilios
Public School, the next senior post.
I entirely agree as to the importance of
systematic consideration of any prima facie reasonable
complaint and I think the above account shows that the
Government very willingly modified the scale which had already been introduced when it was represented by the mistresses that it was inadequate.
