I have the honour to refer to my telegram
No.73 of 17th September, 1939, regarding a ranewal of
intensive activity on the part of Japanese naval forces
against Hong Kong-registered fishing and triding junka
plying outside the waters or the Colony and to forward
for your information a list of such attacks on junks
since the beginning of the present year in continuation
of the list forwarded with my secret letter No.18 of
lat March, 1939. Bursary of the number of vessels
attacked during this period and their casualties and
losses is also enclosed.
Inatances of theas attacks continue to be
reported daily and I should be glad if any possible
Latif
action could be taken to protest to the Japanese
authorities with a view to procuring the cessation of
tis barbarous mode of warfare which can only be directed
against the normal food supplies and industry of this
Colony and serve no real purpose in the prosecution of
the war that Japan la waging against Chinam.
