CHAN FU LEE, 27 years, of TAI 0, owner of Fishing Junk No.3870 H.O. (914 piculs in capacity) residing on board
states:
1939 On the afternoon of the 12th October, the above junk
was fishing at a point between FAN LAU and A CHAU Island.
The following persons were on board:-
(1) CHAN CHAU FAT, 25 years, of TAI 0, foki.
(2) CHAN LIN SAU, 32 years of TAT O, foki.

(3) CHAN KWUN SHING, 23 years of TAI 0, foki,
all three being my relations.
At about 16.00 hours I was
some distance away in the dinghy fishing for ONG FA when
I saw a Japanese trawler approaching from the direction of

LAP SAP MEI and saw it go along side my junk and soon afterwards one of the dinghys from the junk was lowered into
I the sea and saw my three fokis get on board the dinghy. then saw the Japanese sailors throwing over-board various articles from the junk and afterwards saw the trawler leave
the junk and in a few minutes the junk burst into flames. After the Japanese left the vicinity I went on board my junk
and put out the fire and towed the junk back to TAI O and on
the morning of the 13th October, 1939, I made a report to
TAI O Police Station.
The junk was valued at $1,000.00. Value of property destroyed
by fire:-
Nets to the value of $500.00
Clothing of crew
$100.00.
The junk was totally destroyed. No person injured.
