I am the steersman employed on board the above junk.

At about 15.00 hours on 24th October, 1939, we left

CHING SHAN KEUK (

JAF) to go fishing in Deep Bay. We

arrived at Deep Bay at about 18.00 hours same day (24th

October, 1939) and commenced fishing in the vicinity of LAU FAU

SHAN ( 流浮山).

At about 03.00 hours the next morning (25th October,

1939) I together with WONG MUK were fishing on the

deck from the starboard side of my junk when WONG MUK drew my

attention to a motor boat which was approaching my junk from

about 60 feet astern. The motor boat had no port or starboard

navigation lights, only one white light at the bow. On seeing

the motor boat approaching WONG MUK shouted out "A motor boat

is approaching". PANG FUT (

), my master, together with

several other members of the crew then came up on deck.

The

crew of the motor boat then opened fire with a machine gun.

My master then shouted down to the cabin and said "Hand up the

arms and ammunition". My master took one rifle and PANG FUK

(b), another fokie also took a rifle and between them

they fired four shots at the approaching motor boat. My master

then put down his rifle and went over to the cannon on the

port side of my junk and fired the cannon at the motor boat.

The motor boat then circled around my junk and steamed away

1715 in the direction of LIN TIN (

) (Chinese territory).

I noticed the motor boat was flying the Japanese flag. The

flag was white with a red circle in the centre. I could see

the flag quite plainly as there was a moon. I could not see

any of the crew of the motor boat as it was covered around

with armoured plating.

Whilst PANG WO (

彭窩

) was handing

up the rifles to my master from the cabin she received a bullet
