Sir,
14th June, 1939.
I have the honour to inform you that a
gift of Chinese National $200,000, the equivalent of about $80,000 Hong Kong currency, has been
handed to this Government by the Chairman of the
Chinese National Relief Commission in aid of this
Government's refugee relief work on behalf of
Chinese in Hong Kong. I have gratefully accepted this donation which will be applied towards
defraying part of the expense of the construction
of a new camp to accommodate the Chinese soldiers
interned in this Colony, whose present quarters
will then be available for destitute women and
children.
