I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your
letter datea the 12th March, 1937, on the subject or the
position and prospects of the Junior Clerical service, and in
reply to inform you that Government is unable to agree to the
principle that the present system of division into class.es
should be abolished in favour of a through scale.
2.
It is however considered reasonable that the number
of posts in each class should be related in a definite
proportion to the total membership of the Junior Clerical
Service.
3. The proportion adopted, in which allowance has boun
made for the fact the promo ti ons to Class II are made als O
from the Special Class, is as follows:-
