Appointment to these special
posts would be by selection according to
suitability and not merely by seniority as
is the tendency at present. The maximum
of Class Iviz. $2600 would be reached normally
after 24 years service, and the Governor thinks
this is not an unreasonable salary for officers
who are not selected for appointment to a
specific post.
