Tai Lam Chung Valley Scheme.

We thank you for your letter of the 29th December,

Z/E.254/17, and would be pleased to act in this matter.

2. Either Mr. W. J.E.Binnie or Mr. Gourley would be

prepared to visit Hong Kong as soon as the full results of the

preliminary investigations are available, though it would be

more convenient personally if the inspection were made during

April.

3. We should be prepared to visit the Colony, inspect

and select the most suitable dam site and report and advise on

the general scheme and upon any further surveys etc. which may

be required, for a fee of £3,000, plus travelling, hotel and

out-of-pocket expenses.

4. We should be willing to undertake the preparation of

contract drawings, specification and bills of quantities for

the scheme after all the necessary survey plans and other

information have been received from the Colony, and sufficient

to enable construction to be put in hand after the War, for a

fee based upon the estimated cost as follows:

On the first £250,000

On the next £250,000

31% 3%

For all in excess of £500,000 21%
