While H.M.S. Cornflower was in dock I examined her It is impossible to give an accurate estimate of the cost of necessary repairs but the following approximation may be of use.

One month's Dock hire (@ 35% for 1st day, and 126 for other days.)
X Removals in way will include cutting away cement,
probably lifting boilers (decontamination centre in way of lifting one boiler) possibly lifting main engines, Pipes and fittings and valves.
Main engines will almost certainly have to be lifted out if repairs of any magnitude are carried out to garboard strakes or centre girder.
Side Plates. Thickness probably 7/20" or 8/20".
Possibly 6/20" front and aft,
at 13 lbs. per sq.ft.
Cutting out & renewing, 40 per lb.
Allowing 1 strake only on 1 side to be renewed
