(1)

Old Arsenal Yard Site (Arsenal Street and Gloucester Road):

This site would seen to be the most suitable

but its re-acquisition is under consideration by the

Admiralty, who would appear to have first option.

(2)

The Victoria Recreation Club Site:-

This site is held under licence for which the

Club pays $1.00 per annum and which may be terminated on

twelve months' notice on payment of compensation.

I would point out that this Club has held the

licence since about 1908 however and that the proposed future

reclamation development of the Praya includes the present

area adjacent to the Western boundary of this site and so

would considerably reduce the seaward frontage.

(3)

Kellett Island:-

The proposed new Yacht Club building would appear to take up all available space and I understand that

the plans for this building are well in hand.

It might be possible to add to the site area

of the island however by reclamation.

These three sites do not seem to be available

therefore unless the Naval Authorities agree to a portion

of the Old Arsenal Yard being utilized for the requirements

of the Naval Volunteers.

(SD) R. M. HENDERSON.

Director of Public Works.
