that the Governor might have given us more informa-
tion about this important scheme. Is the land to
be vacated by the War Department Crown land
originally lent to the War Department for military
purposes, or was it acquired by the War Department
by purchase? Is the land to be acquired by the
War Department Crown land, and, if so, what is to
become of it when no longer required for military
purposes? Debits and credits in the Colonial
Military Lands Account would have been the normal
procedure for a land deal of this nature. The
Governor does not explain the reasons for a special
procedure, but asks us to take it on trust that
he is making a good bargain.
